The Queen Emma Lily is one of those plants that is named after a member of Hawaiian Royalty, but is neither native nor a Polynesian introduction. The Queen Emma lily (named for the consort of King Kamehameha IV) is a type of crinum lily, or spider lily. Most people know of the crinum lily as a plant with green leaves and white flowers that stand above the foliage. There are also types with reddish foliage and reddish flowers and another with green foliage and reddish flowers.
